225hp Honda Outboard Motor inspections. Motors both have over 1160hrs on them.
Port engine was found to be unservicable, due to very low compressions on both bottom cylinders.
Last services are marked on both oil filters at about 7years ago.
Note; The results listed are relevent at the time of inspection only, time, individual types of use, and
internal water jacket/engine internal conditions, cannot be forseen or inspected.
1; Stb Engine started, ran, idled, and shifted, but isn't running aswell as it should. (needs servicing)
2; Tappits dont appear to have ever been adjusted, may explain 20psi compression difference on Stb motor?
3; Starboard engine compressions were between 185 to 205psi on gauge used
4; Port engine was found to be unservicable, due to very low compressions on both bottom cylinders.
40 to 100psi, rust present on both plugs. Top 4 cylinders were 196 to 204psi.
5; Port engine fuel system flooding inside cowling, suspect float jammed in VST assembly.
6; Both batteries were dead, only one would charge up, wiring and terminations in poor condition.
7; Hydraulic steering ram appears very stiff, may start leaking when put into use.
8; Stb propshaft bent well out of acceptable range, however, no water ingression into gearcase.
9; Both idle air actuators are very sooted up (nearly blocked), require cleaning
Inspections were halted when it was found Port engine was no longer servicable.
